I’ve had blood drawn 100 times. Maybe more. Usually it’s (Dr. Evil Voice) “just a little prick”

Sometimes though Nurse Ratched can’t find what she’s looking for and the whole ordeal is like cleaning the inside of your belly button. A bad kind of {swoon}

Cute and Sassy has had a stomach something for about 2 weeks now and we are at a point where she is having low grade fevers on and off…the doctor wanted to draw some blood just to check her count.

She’d never had blood drawn before. I think you see where this is going.

(me) “It’s nothing”

“But does it hurt”

(nurse pinches her) “Did that hurt?..It feels like that”

“No, that wasn’t bad”

(straps the elastic tourniquet on) “That’s the worst part”

“OK…”

(nurse) “You’re gonna feel a little pinch”

Ok this is where the dig to the left and dig to the right comes in..

“Your vain doesn’t want to cooperate”

(picture C & S 10 times paler and eyes 10 times bigger)

Without all the details, 2 minutes go by…before we get Texas T.

(FF to the car ride home)

“You said it wouldn’t hurt.  Can I take the bandaid off?  Am I going to have a bruise? It hurts. Is it going to hurt for a long time?  Should I bend my arm or leave it straignt?  Should I give blood?  Maybe I shouldn’t ever give blood.  If you give blood you sometimes get a t-shirt.  I thought you said it wouldn’t hurt.  Do I get a gift? We used to get a toy when we had a shot and that was sure like a shot!  I think I SHOULD get a gift.  I really need new jeans.  Maybe we can look online.  Did you know you can get designer jeans online too?  I have a bunch of websites we can look at.”

(thank God she made it OK and is back to her old self.)
