Picnik Photo Fun with Snarky Kid Faces

They give you that look when you take their photo. Ticks you off. You just want to take their picture to remember all the good times. Right? You want to salvage that photo that she…..

……well she looked like this.

I know, scares me too…

So I decided to do something about it. Besides hit delete.

I loaded it into Picnik.com

And went through the following adjustments.

Cropped it so I could see that gorgeous face way up close and personal. YAY!

Let’s go full strength just for fun.

Ok, that’s getting scarier….what does radius do?

WOW. I recognize this kid. She lives with me most of the time. This is her I’m tired don’t bother me look.

How about a little Holga-ish.

Looking better in a weird I’m gonna smush a bug sort of way.

Boost is always a girl’s best friend and in her case seems to take away that smush a bug look.

Pink is her color tho!

Almost framable!

That was fun. I probably didn’t need that many steps to get to the cute pinky look.

But I couldn’t resist making the snark snarkier!

No bugs were smushed in the making of this photo.

Picnik Shortcut: Make Easy Blog Headers For Free

Simple is in in the blog header world. And simple is something you can make for free with Picnik.com. One of the reasons people shy away from making their own is because they do not have the base shape to work with. I will show you the easy way to work with a photo, cropping and some basic shapes to make any size header or button you want.

A fresh blank canvas.

Start with a photo. Any size. If it’s a larger photo you can crop out the size you want with the crop feature. Insert the width and height and you have your base.

If you start out with a smaller photo, hit the resize and enlarge it. The distortion doesn’t matter. We are going to cover it up with a shape. Pick the snarky photos. They are the most fun to cover up.THOSE EYES…DUDE, TEENAGERS. YOU COULD KILL A SMALL BUNNY WITH THOSE EYES

Find the rectangle under geometric shapes. Cover the cropped photo with the rectangle, choose your color (this will be the background color of the header or button) and HOW EASY IS THAT. (cover the whole photo, i have just covered part to show you the process)

Add your text

Maybe some silly shapes

And you have a header easy peasy….

Way Easierest Dictionary Revisions: Week of July 21

I am finding that as the general population struggles with new media and emerging technologies and Googlable everything, that reading on the web gets a little confusing. Hence the need to STILL add CLICK HERE to buttons and sites.

Or so I am told.

Anyway. You would not do that, but people who are not web savvy need guidance.

Like the dictionary. Used to be you looked in the middle of the book for the “L” and then thumbed your way to whatever word you were looking for. Now we have to Google or Swagbuck the word to find it in the dictionary which has been uploaded online.

But all that reading is killing our eyes. So I am making life a little easier by adding photos to the words that matter most in our pop culture enriched lives.

To help. Cause I’m nice like that.

Despicable Me review and super cool photos and elbowing Loralee

If you like to laugh and smile and get a little teary then I have a movie for you. Despicable Me (in theaters July 9, 2010) is an animated movie that will resonate with any parent or child. The story of what parenting does to your lifestyle and what happens as you are thrust into it…well that’s the heartwarming part of what you might think would be a children’s 3D movie.

Don’t get me wrong…it’s a super fun 3D (or 2D if you prefer) movie for kids who love….

action

villains

and funny little girls who are so smart and sassy.

It’s so much more than that. Parents will LOVE it too.

And I got to meet some amazing talent who play the voices in the film…

As if I wasn’t in LOVE with Steve Carell and Julie Andrews *curtsy* before…

As if Jason Segel wasn’t hot enough in How I Met Your Mother…

As if Miranda Cosgrove isn’t the cutest little girl you want to squeeze and then feed a pizza or 5 to….

I got to find out from them what it’s like to be in a booth creating voices with only you and images to expand on.

As for the movie itself…it’s a fabulous storyline, and the cast bring into play characters that are memorable and endearing. The 3D is not overdone so you aren’t feeling sick and like your eyes are going to poke out. Well there is a roller coaster scene that had me gripping the chair and barreling my feet into the nice German foreign press gentleman in front of me.

“Es tut mir furchtbar leid”

We got photos taken with each of the cast members that we interviewed. Since it was a blogger group, meeting the bloggers was one of the best parts. Getting to see the talent was icing on the cake.

Who am I kidding. It was all about the stars. I touched the royal hand of the Queen of Genovia, I may never be the same.

Trying to get close to the talent in each photo was not easy. Especially when Ms. “I’m in orange and tall and in the back row so move on over” leaves treadmarks on the cameraman to get in the line. There was no stopping Loralee. She had her “A” game on and got prime locations in all the photos.

I love her but boy.

I’m just jealous. Of course I can haz photoshop…

*snickers

Barbie SUMMAHTIME! – Back From L.A.

I’m back from L.A. and the trip was so fab. Got to meet the Minions from Depsicable Me and yes that one was totally hitting on me…told him he needed to watch that hand!

I kind of took the long way home via amazon.com, but now that I’m back I have something to show you girls. When I was hanging at the Four Season’s with Beyonce, she convinced me to get hair extensions. Seems all glamorous L.A. ladies get them. And since I didn’t have much money (I mean it’s the Four Freakin Seasons, a per diem only goes so far) I went to some little beauty place on Hollywood and Vine for my hairdo.

But I’m back ladies….

Where in L.A. is Barbie?

As you know I have a favorite Barbie that I use to tell the story of my life. I like that the doll has a tan like me and a 2 inch waste NOT like me. She is the perfect character.

Or was…

I lose something every time I go away it seems.

San Fran - my wireless card

L.A. – my Barbie.

But the question remains…did I forget her or did she run away to L.A. L.A. land?

Looking at the night before, I’m starting to wonder what the real story is.

Of course I usually use the first person to tell my stories, but I am not missing, she is. So it will be told in Barbie Person. And here are the timeline of events that led up to her demise.

And that’s the last we saw of her. Did she get lost in all 28 feet of that Four Season’s bed?

Did she fall over the balcony looking for Beyonce again?

Did she crawl under the bed so she wouldn’t have to come back to Richmond?

It’s time for summer and time to get my SUMMAHTIME FUN on! Follow me this summer for….

Can you imagine the horror that I had to endure when I got a tear in my favorite jeans? Even with the economy in the toilet, it was time to find some new clothes.

I knew ebay would have the best deals so I headed there.

I have a positive feedback of 100%. #justsayin #booyah

There was no shortage of LAME clothing. I mean who wants to look lame these days when there are so many fancy clothes you can buy? Yes a gold outfit is super LAME, IMO.

Well, I also found some bargains…

Wedding dresses for $.99

No I am not getting married, but I have 2 daughters you know…

Elvis is alive, in jail, and available for purchase for $34.99….

But I also found something disturbing.

Clean but USED BARBIE UNDERWEAR. GAH… I thought that was a Clinton thing? {{throws up a little}}

Well anywhoooo, I ordered some super cute stuff, and I’ll share when it gets here.

It’s more than a seat. It’s a movement.

It’s rare that I mention my son on this blog, mostly because he dies a little each time he is blogged about. And I’m sorry for that.

But he’s a grown up now, 19, soaks in the air that I condition and eats the food that I prepare order from Domino’s, so he’s fair game IMO.

He’s young still and formulating his opinions on life, I get that. But last night he decided to take on an age old question that has already been answered.

And women won, hands down.

His thought…and I have to give him credit on this…

….credit for being a man with a manbrain….

…that simply because we as women are the self appointed victims in this that we should change our habits so as to not rock the boat and upset, hurt or disappoint ourselves.

And let men win.

The toilet seat belongs DOWN.

“Why don’t you look?”

“Because it’s supposed to be down, so we would NEVER HAVE to look.”

“Why don’t you just get used to ASSUMING that it’s up?”

“Why don’t you realize you are wrong and go eat a pizza?”

So far it’s not affected the equilibrium of this house, mostly because we have 5 bathrooms. So with 3 of us living here and 5 bathrooms, 2 of us girls… and you math geeks can correct me…there is easily a 2 in 5 chance of landing in the john (ok, so I’m an accountant not a statistician) …add to that the fact that the boy spends 30% of his time in the basement and it’s more like 1 in some bigger number.

Not really an issue.

No, not an issue but still a position.

A position that has me NOT falling in the bowl at 3 am.

It’s so nice to relax on the couch with my puppies.

I don’t know why, but lately my sleep has been off and I desperately need to take the occasional nap. Of course then I feel like poo all evening. Why is that?

These dogs can share the couch…it’s a bit of a squish….but they won’t mind…you know the old saying….
